Day 01 - Your Favorite Bruce Song
It’s hard to decide. I fall in love with Bruce songs the way I fall in love with Beatles songs.. I’ll spend a week or 2 absolutely obsessed with one song, then change it to another. My top 3 so far:
1. Rosalita
2. Zero & Blind Terry
3. Atlantic City
What I love most about Bruce’s songs are his ballads. He’s not just a great songwriter, but a storyteller. In Rosalita and Zero… he isn’t just telling the story though his lyrics, but through the music also. Jungleland is like this too. He paints for you a picture of lovers, of people trying to live their lives in a world that will force you to do otherwise and the music reflects that. Rosalita has been one of my favorites for years & it is just full of melodic surprises and i never want that song to end. The music in Zero goes along with what’s happening, “The Pythons fought with buzz guns and the troopers with swords like light and zero and terry ran away and the gang fought all through the night” In the song the music starts off slow and picks up momentum reflecting the battle described in the song.
Atlantic City I’ve been swooning over lately just because I love the music and the honesty of the song.
Oh and I’m adding Bishop Danced. Basically I was obsessed with Tracks for a while.
